Photographers travel the world in the pursuit of breathtaking images.

 

For his current show, artist Dick Blau ventures no more than one block in any direction from his downtown eighth-floor condo at 730 N. Plankinton Ave.

 

He captures the beauty of surrounding buildings in all kinds of light and weather, random people on the street below his balcony, smudges and cracks on walls and pavement, the seagulls sharing the neighborhood and whatever else speaks to him.

 

For years, he shared his work by hanging photos in the lobby of his building for fellow residents of Riverfront Lofts to find and enjoy. Then he put together a string of 297 images and showed them occasionally on TV screens at Mo’s A Place for Steaks on the corner of his block.
